Muscogee (Creek), 1990–

Born in Okfuskee, Oklahoma, George Alexander is a contemporary Muscogee (Creek) artist living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 2015, Alexander received a BA from the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA). He then went on to receive a Masters of Fine Art from the Studio Art College in Florence, Italy in 2019. 

George Alexander is known for his vibrant and thought-provoking works that explores contemporary Indigenous culture while challenging and expanding the boundaries of what is considered “Native Art”. Alexander’s work is celebrated for fostering dialogue about the challenges and beauty of Indigenous life. He is considered an upcoming influential figure in the Native American art community, contributing to both the preservation and evolution of Indigenous artistic traditions.

George Alexander has exhibited his works across the United States, most recently with work included in the groundbreaking exhibition curated by Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, The Land Carries Our Ancestors, at the National Gallery of Art. His work is in the TIA Collection and other esteemed private collections.
