Notes: This masterpiece by Alison Saar is a gem within the collection. Created from carved wood, ceiling tin, nails, glass and paint, the figure emotes great energy and sentimentality. The lying man appears fast asleep yet his face articulates open to reveal a foreboding array of glass shards. Peering beyond the final layer is the visage of a woman. Perhaps the memory of a love lost — floating amid the man’s subconscious.
