Trotta-Bono Contemporary and the Jackson Hole Art Auction present In Relation: Modern and Contemporary Native American Art, a private sales exhibition of major works by foundational and contemporary Native American artists. The title draws on the Indigenous principle of relationality – the understanding that all things exist in kinship – framing the work as an ongoing conversation across generations, geographies, and ways of seeing. It also speaks to the exhibition’s setting in the American West, placing Native American art in direct relation to the region, its histories, and the art traditions long associated with it.

The exhibition foregrounds connection – between elders and the artists who follow them, between figuration and abstraction, between land and memory. Spanning mid-century studio painting, modernism, abstraction, contemporary photography, and sculpture, the works speak to one another across more than seventy years, each in conversation with what came before.
